ISCCS - Hybrid Power Plants
At a hybrid power plant (Integrated Solar-Combined Cycle System - ISCCS), the thermal energy from solar fields is combined with an additional source of energy to generate electricity, for example a gas-steam power plant. This allows for steady 24-hour operation.
In Kuraymat, 95 kilometers south of Egypt's capital city of Cairo, a hybrid power plant is being built on the banks of the Nile that will use both gas and solar radiation as energy sources. Flagsol GmbH is responsible for the design and engineering of the solar field and for procuring key components for this project. The solar field was completely installed with a mirror surface of approximately 130,000 m². Flagsol will assist in the operation of the power plant together with local partners over a period of two years.
