ANDA F&E - Andasol ANDASOL - EU Project DISTOR - Storage INDITEP - Direct steam

The Anda F&E R&D project is a continuation of the Parasol project. It tackles with technical and scientific questions coming up during the preparation and realization of the AndaSol Project. The main task within the Parasol project was the replacement of an existing LS-3 loop by improved and up scaled EuroTrough collectors in the commercially operated SEGS V power plant in California. The Anda F&E R&D project is supported by the German Ministry of Environmental Affairs.

In the first work package the long time monitoring of the performance of the PARASOL SKAL-ET test installation at Kramer Junction/ Cal. is performed to verify efficiency and reliability, to optimize O&M strategies and find out cost reduction possibilities.

The second work package deals with thermal storage and innovative solar field control concepts. Design of storage tanks and oil-salt heat exchangers is optimized, environmental friendly procedures for filling and discharge of salt containers are developed. Innovative solar field control concepts using wireless communication techniques and autonomous power supplies are investigated. Integration problems of solar thermal power plants and wind plants into regional grids are examined.

In a third work package innovative techniques for the logistics of the extended construction site of a solar thermal including 1,008 collectors in an area of 549’360m² are developed.

Dissemination of the AndaSol technology, also in the context of the Global Market Initiative (GMI) is the main topic in the forth work package.
